LEGO has banked on trains right from the start, with trackless push-along models. A track system and battery powered motors were introduced around 1968. They still have trains in their product palette to this day albeit in a rather limited way.

Track and powering methods evolved over time. While the track gauge and geometry has remained much the same over the years, its appearance has changed.
